Court Collections Processors

Carrying out the recovery of all outstanding owed to CITB-Construction Skills, including the instigation, implementation, prosecution and case management of actions through the Civil Courts with due regard for efficiency and cost effectiveness. Communicating as representatives of CITB-Construction Skills with employers and their representatives as well as external agents

Key Responsibilities -

  • Negotiating installment payments and determining the acceptability on payment offers.
  • Deciding when to/how long to hold/suspend matters during ongoing correspondence/negotiations.
  • Carry out the appropriate replies and file maintenance prior to referring matters to the Legal Officer for Court Hearings in relation to the recovery of outstanding Levy debts.
  • Making applications to the Court putting forward evidence to request the Judiciary grant the appropriate order.
  • Liaising with other sections with a view to gaining a positive outcome and hopefully conclude matters.
  • Review the procedures used to ensure the timely, efficient and cost effective recovery of outstanding debts and forward suggestions of any amendments/changes to the Legal Officer for consideration.
  • Deputise for the Legal Officer in times of absence, carrying out the interfaces with SAP and ad-hoc queries that arise.
    Representing/assisting the Legal Officer, if required, at Team meetings.

Essential Skills -

  • Education to at least GCSE level standard (or equivalent), A level in Mathematics and English (or equivalent) desirable. Or, several years experience in a debt recovery role involving issue of proceedings.
  • The ability to act in a professional manner even when dealing with awkward/abusive/sensitive calls or correspondence or circumstances.
  • Experience of office based working in a busy, procedure based, environment.
  • Excellent communication skills essential, both written and verbal, as the job entails the drafting and sending of replies to Court papers and correspondence to employers, their accountants, solicitors, and the Court Service, as well as having to make applications providing evidence and requests to members of the judiciary. Being able to adapt responses depending on the recipient.
  • Negotiation Skills essential as the role entails negotiating payment terms, replies, completed forms from recalcitrant employers or their professional advisers.
  • Working knowledge of Word, e-mail, Outlook, Excel, Document retrieval system, work related web-sites.
