General Ledger Administrator

SSCL are looking to recruit a Process Assistant to work as part of the General Ledger Team supporting a number of our government clients. As part of the role, you will be responsible for completing balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis within the agreed SLA timescale. The role involves working mainly on Microsoft Excel so good knowledge of Excel is required, as the majority of the work is spreadsheet based.
The role also requires the completion of journals to make amendments to the GL, so knowledge of double entry accounting would be useful.
We are looking for someone what has great communication skills and is able to work well as part of a team. The candidate must also have the initiative to work on their own, understanding quickly the processes involved in their work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring reconciliations are completed within the set SLA deadlines.
  • Ensure all reconciling differences are queried with the relevant parties with a view to clearing the differences prior to the reconciliations turning red.
  • Ensure any issues with the above are escalated via line management.
  • Assist manager with the clients VAT workings and submission
  • Perform daily checks and run system reports
  • Support the team during month-end closure of general ledger

Essential skills:

  •  Numerate and able to interrogate and process complex data
  • A good knowledge of excel is essential
  • Very good interpersonal skills
  • Able to use initiative and exercise sound judgment
  • Articulate and able to develop good working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Support manager and other team members during busy periods
