Employees raise over £21,500 for charity in 2018

Across the organisation there has been various charity events and activities organised to raise funds for some very worthy causes. Throughout 2018 these events have raised over £21,500 for charity.

Here are just a few highlights of what our employees got up to over the Christmas period to support their local communities in a variety of ways:

Our colleagues joined forces with the Department for Work and Pensions staff in Blackpool (DWP) and together collected over 700 chocolate oranges to go to some very deserving and loved people. Blackpool hosted collections for Fleetwood foodbank. A collection of teddies and soft toys was also organised with over 300 toys being amassed for charity.

Highlights included guess the baby photo competition, a Christmas quiz over five rounds, a festive bake sale raising money to sponsor a retired Metropolitan Police Service horse living at The Horses Trust, Christmas accessories day and a Christmas challenge day with a selection of games and of course Christmas jumper day raising £61.25 for Save the Children.

Newcastle colleagues also held 12 days of Christmas festivities with games, quizzes, bake sales and much more. A Christmas toy appeal saw donations split between Action for Children and a Women’s Refuge in Northumberland.

Our colleagues in Newport held multiple events to raise money for charity including food bank collections for Raven House Trust. They also had a very successful Santa Appeal which saw over 100 gifts being donated to Newport Social Services.

Their Wrap-Up Newport appeal resulted in 2,348 coats, 14 black bags of hats, scarves and gloves and 27 black bags of mixed clothing being collected!

Colleagues in York held several festive fun activities including collecting food and gifts for a local group ‘Xmas Presence’ which provides a Christmas dinner for those that would otherwise be lonely.

Three luxury Marks and Spencer Christmas Hampers were also raffled off and other festive fun activities included a Christmas Nibbles buffet. A fantastic total of £273 was raised in support of Save the Children.

There were many more activities, games , sponsorship and collections across all sites - so a massive well done to everyone who gave their time, energy, sponsorship and donations to support so many worthy causes.
